“We Liken The Sun” from August By Cake is a track that I didn’t give enough attention when the album first came out. I guess that’s somewhat acceptable, as there were plenty of new songs vying for attention all at once. I’ve really come to appreciate this one since then, especially through learning how to play it on guitar. When you learn how to play this tune, you see how Bob Pollard likes to take a certain chord shape and move it to different frets on the guitar neck, or play the same shape on different strings.
