In the post for “Apology In Advance,” I mentioned that there are certain songs from Earthquake Glue that never really “did it” for me, and “Dirty Water” had been one of them for a long time. Obviously, I loved those harmonized guitar lead lines towards the end by guitarist Doug Gillard, but it wasn’t enough to win me over. Recently, however, I was listening to the “Slow Dirty Water” version (which is just Bob and his guitar) from Suitcase 4: Captain Kangaroo Won The War, and those quirky Robert Pollard chords really stood out to me and intrigued me enough to want to learn how to play it on guitar.
