As with many of the songs on Tonics & Twisted Chasers, the songwriting for “Dayton, Ohio-19 Something And 5” is credited to both Robert Pollard and Tobin Sprout. In this case, it sounds to me like a Sprout musical composition that Pollard added lyrics and melody to. Nevertheless, it’s a Guided By Voices classic (Pollard even bestowed upon it the title of “the ballad of Guided By Voices”), so it deserves a transcription on this site.
