You know how Robert Pollard records demo versions of his songs by hitting the Record button on his boom box, playing part of the song, hitting the Stop button, and repeating this process for the rest of the parts, just to splice the individual pieces into a cohesive whole? A song like “Come North Together” makes it easy to imagine where he hit that Stop button; there are well-defined sections to this song, unlike some other Pollard tunes that have more of a “stream of consciousness” feel about them, sort of meandering along without repeating any sections.
