“Break Even” features some raucous vocal work by Robert Pollard that you just don’t hear any more these days. In terms of songwriting, however, this one is pretty similar to a lot of the loose song structure tunes Pollard still gifts to us on every album. There’s not really a clear verse or chorus to be found here, just an assembly of different sections that build to a frenzied assault of multi-tracked guitars.
