“Back To The Lake” is arguably one of the greatest songs from Universal Truths and Cycles, and that’s an album just bursting with worthy contenders. There’s the anthemic, fist-pumping chorus of “Christian Animation Torch Carriers,” the dizzying thrill ride riffage that is “Everywhere With Helicopter,” and the stormy vibratey-ness of “Storm Vibrations,” (sorry, I’m all out of cute descriptions) to name a few. Of all these, “Back To The Lake” is the only one still in regular rotation on the band’s live set list, which speaks to its lasting power in their extensive catalog.
