Earthquake Glue is a Guided By Voices album that I’ve always loved, and yet some of its songs took longer for me to realize their greatness. When it was first released, the obvious hits to me were “I’ll Replace You With Machines,” “The Best Of Jill Hives,” “Secret Star,” “My Kind Of Soldier,” and “Useless Inventions.” Years later, however, I’m starting to dig some of those that I passed over previously. One of those is “Apology In Advance.” On a recent listen of this track, I heard some of Robert Pollard’s trademark unique chord voicings and quick chord changes and fell in love with it. In this post, we’ll take a closer look at this song with guitar tablature and chord diagrams.
